Brett Rogers of OpinionPaper has issued a challenge to conservative bloggers to do two things:

1) Put up a "top" post urging visitors to get out the vote for Bush, and
2) Bring one other Bush voter to the polls on election day.

A noble idea, indeed. See #1 on the left. Have been doggedly working on the other...

I see your "bring a friend" and raise you placing 70 yard signs, handing out untold number of number stickers and sending letters to the editor.

All except finding homes for the yard signs was easy and didn’t take a lot of time. However placing the yard signs was the most enjoyable as I got to meet a lot of great people. Get involved!

Unfortunately, I believe the vote count to be much closer than my friend Stephen does. My predictions: Bush electoral votes: 270 Kerry electoral votes: 268 Switching to Red: Hawaii, Iowa, New Mexico Switching to Blue: New Hampshire, Ohio Popular vote: Bush 50.1, Kerry 48.5 Senate: GOP picks up 2. House: GOP nets 5. Should Colorado split its vote, Lt. Kerry reports for duty (with Bush still winning the popular vote). I suppose the only consolation for such a circumstance would be the deafening silence on the topic of reforming the electoral college.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) is quoted as uttering these words following last night's all-night session called by Majority "Leader" Harry Reid. The statement's context is intended as a criticism of the Republicans for utilizing the cloture requirement of 60 votes to end a debate and put a matter to a vote. It illustrates perfectly the reason for Congress' abysmal approval ratings, currently lower than those of President Bush: NONE of them get it. Claire and everyone else following Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid on the Good Ship Stop-n-Drop are trying to make this out to be the Republicans against the Democrats. The Iraq debate isn't some college contest to see who comes away with the Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship belt.
